FAQs

What do I need to bring with me to go Stand Up Paddleboarding?
We advise that you bring swimwear to wear underneath your rental wetsuit and a pair of wetsuit boots, beach shoes or a pair of trainers that you don't mind getting wet. Please also make sure that yourself or someone in your group has a waterproof watch, to keep track of your time spent on the water. And don't forget to bring a towel!

I'm a good swimmer, do I have to wear a buoyancy aid on the water?
Yes, your safety is of paramount importance to us. Everyone booking a session with us will be required to wear a buoyancy aid and a Paddleboard leash at all times whilst on the water. There are no exceptions to this rule.


Do I need insurance to paddle on Bewl Water?
If you are booking your session with Turtle Bay @ Bewl Water, you don't need your own insurance. You will be covered under our own liability insurance policy.


What if I want to cancel my session?
If you wish to cancel your session, we ask that you do so at least 24hrs before your session is due to start. If you cancel within the 24hr period a 50% transaction fee will be charged. If you need to cancel, prehaps we can organise another day for you? 

What if the weather is bad?
Our sessions go ahead in the sunshine and the rain! We will only cancel a session if we deem the conditions to be unsafe. In such case we will offer a full refund or an alternative date. If you wish to cancel due to rain or cold weather, please refer to our cancellation policy.

 

Do I have to pre-book and can I pay cash on the day?
We ask that all sessions are booked online at least 1 day before you wish to paddle. Payment will need to be made in full through our online booking system. 

What facilities do you have?
Parking is available at the main carpark (please note that there is a £5 charge for the whole day). Changing rooms, showers and toilets are available for you to use. These are located right next to our spot by the water. Please help us keep these tidy and make sure you don't leave any belongings behind. A great range of refreshments are available at the Waterside Cafe, which is just a short stroll from Turtle Bay @ Bewl Water.

What happens if the weather is not suitable for Stand Up Paddleboarding?
We keep a very close eye on the weather forecasts. If it is going to be too windy or if thunder storms are due, we will have to cancel the session. You will be given the option of having a refund or changing your appointment to another time. We will always endeavour to let you know of a cancelled session as soon as we possibly can, however this may be on the day itself if conditions are different to what is forecast. Paddleboard sessions will still go ahead in the cold and rain!
